Creating a Work of Art
The typical movie version of an artist creating shows someone that drops everything when their creative vision strikes. They ignore all human needs as the struggle to quickly produce their work before the creative vision is gone. While this may occasionally be true, most artists must make preparations before they begin. Many like to create sketches of their finished work before they start creating in their chosen medium. They will revisit their sketch over several days and change details occasionally as their vision solidifies. Many must buy supplies before they can start working.
Most artists work on a regular schedule when they are actually turning their vision into reality. Skipping meals, or not sleeping for days on end, tends to inhibit the creative process. Most artists invest the time to have regular and nourishing meals while they work. They get a good night’s sleep and are generally well rested when they pick up their artistic tools to finish their works of art.
